Do you know what steps to take if your buddy has a medical emergency underwater? This course teaches just that as well as other basic life saving techniques such as first aid, CPR, emergency oxygen provision, and various rescue techniques to get an otherwise ill or injured diver out of the water and to safety.
SCUBA diving has inherent dangers, there's just no other way to slice it. Up until now the courses you've taken have given you the tools, knowledge, and expertise to mitigate those dangers and have safe, fun, enjoyable dives. Unfortunately, life gets hectic sometimes and emergencies arise. Knowing how to recognize the signs and symptoms of emergency situations as well as how to properly react and administer care is something every diver should know.
During this course students will learn the signs and symptoms of various life-threatening conditions and the best course of action to take to ensure the safety of the rescuer (you) and the victim. Students will learn to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions to simulated situations, such as a panicked diver at the surface, unresponsive diver at the surface, and unresponsive diver underwater, to name a few.
